Funding Focus
The Rita Hogan Foundation is a young and growing foundation. It is also a learning organisation. In seeking to make the greatest impact with its limited resources while at the same time enhancing its skills and understanding, the Rita Hogan Foundation will favour partnering with other funders to support specific projects and initiatives.
In considering applications for funding the Rita Hogan Foundation seeks to support Eligible Charities which are:
- well managed with a clear focus;
- financially sound with both the managerial and financial capacity to complete the proposed project/initiative successfully;
- able to leverage the Rita Hogan Foundation support with funding from other sources;
- energetic and innovative with a clear track record in their area of focus;
- served by a high proportion of volunteers;
- committed to the evaluation of their project;
- able to sustain results into the future.
Currently, the preferred areas of focus are:
- marginalised and disadvantaged young people with particular interest in supporting educational and personal development initiatives;
- indigenous Australians with particular interest (in addition to education as noted above) in supporting community specific challenges, cultural strength and independence;
- disadvantaged communities and marginalised groups, including the elderly, facing serious inequity in well being and opportunity.
Generally there is a preference to address underlying causes and enhance individuals' capabilities.
